By definition, an atheist is a person who does not believe in God.
So, if God didn’t exist we wouldn’t be able to define an atheist.
In short, if God didn’t exist, there would be no atheists!
However, atheists exist, so… well, the conclusion is obvious:-)!

Even world famous scientist Stephen Hawking says that he is unable to prove God doesn't exist while he was trying to draw out the boundary of the universe.
And I think that for this century, we are so closed to God and yet so far away, in fact very very far away.
Close because we have witnessed many things. Diseases, scientific discoveries and etc.
Far because we have so much more options. Long time ago, human has less knowledge and entertaintment and thus being naive makes them obedient.
Some people has very little options in ancient time, either you are born a slave or otherwise. Thus, the only option is to believe in saviour. Now, even if you are born "not good", you have other options.
